Loyola Marymount University is one of the largest Catholic universities located on the West Coast, with approximately 9,300 students. The university was officially formed in 1973 after the Loyola University and Marymount College merged.
Architectural Resource Consultants (ARC) was hired to provide high definition survey (HDS) 3D laser scanning (3DLS) services to create a 3D as-built building information model (BIM). Work was being performed for the contractor for the purpose of trade coordination. ARC performed 3DLS services post demolition during construction. The BIM included architectural and structural elements as well as a geometric floor shape surface map.
This project demonstrates ARC's ability to document the existing conditions of a university building undergoing renovations.
